Gabby has over ten years of experience tutoring students in test prep (SSAT, HSPT, SAT, ACT), study skills, and writing. Ever since grade school, she has been passionate about engaging in the field of education. Gabby recently earned her Master's Degree from Harvard University (an Ed.M. in Educational Policy, Entrepreneurship, and Management). She also holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley and teaching credits from the University of San Francisco's Dual Degree Teaching Program. She excels at tutoring students with a variety of academic needs, interests, goals, and learning styles.
For over a decade, Gabby has worked for a great number of nonprofits and urban tutoring organizations, particularly catering to severely handicapped and at-risk youth. In 2012 she founded an educational consulting company where she assisted students with mild to severe learning differences through an individualized, holistic academic approach. Over the years, she has developed several educational campaigns, including The Bay Area Disaster Preparedness Campaign and The Friendship Club Garden Project, a program that integrates severely handicapped teens with their regular education peers.
In 2014, Gabby served as a White House Intern, assisting President Obama with his education policy portfolio, drafting policies related to students with disabilities and facilitating student correspondence. Through this experience, she gained a unique perspective on the gaps in our country’s education system. To help close some of these gaps, she has collaborated with educational leaders across the globe, from her advisor Tom Hehir, former director of the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs to First Lady Michelle Obama. Through research grants and service projects, Gabby has traveled to 28 countries.
Although Gabby has spent time living and traveling around the world, her heart is here in the Bay Area. She is a fifth generation San Franciscan and a proud and dedicated member of the Mindful Tutor team. Aside from education, some of Gabby's interests include poetry, philosophy, hiking and supporting her Bay Area sports teams.
"Gabby quickly got into my son's schedule and was able to track it as if she'd been there forever. She is extraordinary and excellent with time management but equally as impressive with teaching content. Gabby has impacted my son's seventh-grade year in a profound way." - Parent, St. Stephen
