Mia enjoys working with children and their families to promote life-long organizational skills for success. With seventeen years of experience in elementary education, both as a school librarian and a classroom teacher, Mia has worked with a wide variety of learning abilities, behaviors, and family dynamics. Her whole-child approach focuses on identifying the strengths and needs of an individual to stimulate interest, foster ownership, and establish life-long learning habits.
Mia’s diverse educational background has helped create a skill set that uniquely dovetails with the needs of many students and families. With many years of work on the technical side of theater productions and originally a theater major at San Francisco State University, Mia had many opportunities to hone her organizational skills, pay attention to detail, and learn to see the bigger picture. Wanting to add a global perspective to her college education, Mia also attended Semester At Sea in her sophomore year, an experience that has had a life-long impact. Mia holds a BA in Liberal Studies from SFSU, an elementary school teaching credential from UC Irvine, and a Masters degree in Records Management and Archival Studies from University College London.
These days Mia enjoys working privately with children and families to help them navigate organizational obstacles, create more serene work spaces, and maintain efficient work habits. Besides supporting others and thinking about effective habits, Mia enjoys time with her two school-age boys and planning her next two-wheeled adventure via motorbike.
"Mia has been outstanding in every way with my daughter. Mia has been thoughtful, creative, funny and effective in her teaching technique. My daughter's favorite day of the week has become 'Mia Tuesday’s.' My daughter isn’t the only one benefiting from Mia’s coaching. Our entire family has benefited now that we have better processes in place for both organization and homework." - Parent, Convent
