Bhavani
Bhavani has successfully worked with multiple cohorts of middle and high school students to tailor their application essays so that they reflect their authentic selves. Believing in the power of story telling, she focuses on supporting students through the process of finding out who they are and how they want to showcase themselves. The high school and college essay process is an important time for students to craft and share their stories so that admissions representatives can more clearly view the person standing behind the grades and test scores. Bhavani believes that all students have a story to tell and is committed to helping them tell it.
More broadly, Bhavani has worked with students of all age ranges for eight years as a teacher, academic counselor, college coach, and paraeducator. Her focus has been to help address needs in reading, writing, math, executive function, study skills, homework support, SSAT and HSPT test prep support, and self-advocacy skills. Her passion and expertise lie in working with students with diverse sets of needs, including dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, and visual and auditory processing issues. Her teaching focuses include test preparation, high school and college application support, and the humanities and social sciences.
Bhavani received her B.A. in Anthropology and Ethnic Studies from U.C. Berkeley. She holds a Masters in Higher Education from the University of Michigan Rackham Graduate School of Education. Bhavani has had extensive experience working for non-profit organizations and in school settings. She focuses on student empowerment in addition to academic achievement.
