Brandon
In his teaching of physics and calculus, Brandon thoroughly enjoys helping others understand difficult ideas. His teaching philosophy consists of taking concepts students already know and gradually applying them to more complicated ideas. The goal is to help students come to their own conclusions and build off their current knowledge by leading them in the right direction. Each new concept is put together piece by piece from preexisting comprehension of related topics so that each new topic feels familiar. He brings a deep understanding of the mental focus needed to excel in STEM fields.
Brandon is a Summa Cum Laude graduate in aerospace and mechanical engineering with a minor in robotics. He has also earned a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech. Alongside his academic pursuits, he has gained invaluable real-world experience, working for companies like the U.S. Naval Nuclear Laboratory, space and defense contractor Moog Inc., and his current position as a full-time engineer at Siemens Energy.
Outside of academics, Brandon was a high-level NCAA track and field athlete, ranking among the top 100 athletes in the world in the high jump. Post-collegiate, he continues a lifestyle of fitness and self-improvement. His dedication to both sports and academics allows him to relate to students navigating the challenges of balancing school and extracurricular pursuits.
With Brandon as their tutor, students not only excel in the classroom, but also gain insights that boost their overall development. His unique blend of academic expertise, professional experience, and extracurricular background makes him a versatile mentor, poised to support young minds in their educational journey.
