Pia
Pia loves to write. She has taught writing in many forms — she taught fiction writing to NYC high schoolers and to undergraduates at Columbia, served as Director of the Columbia Artist/Teacher program, and works remotely on composition with adults earning their GED. She holds an MFA in Fiction from Columbia University and a BA in Literary Arts from Brown. As a tutor, she works with students on writing, study, and organizational skills. Pia focuses on helping students find their own voices and structure their learning habits for success.
Pia knows it's hard to learn if you're not interested in what you're studying, and she loves working with students to connect their coursework to their passions. An exuberant and empathetic teacher, she uses storytelling and hands-on exercises to engage multiple styles of learning at once.
“I’m not sure I can put into words how much we appreciate Pia’s help thus far this year. Her sunny demeanor and can-do attitude has made an enormous difference not just as evidenced in my daughter’s grades, but most importantly, in my daughter’s improved self-confidence, belief in her academic ability, herself, and just a generally improved attitude/outlook regarding school/schoolwork in general. We are endlessly grateful for Pia’s help and grateful that we are able to work with her.” - Parent
