Savannah
With over ten years of education experience, Savannah loves using creative approaches to develop relationships. A graduate of Bowdoin College, Savannah has enjoyed studying math for as long as she can remember. The rules and boundaries of the subject comfort her, inspiring her to think outside the box. Entering undergrad as a math major, Savannah switched fields when she didn't see herself using calculus in her career. But skip forward a few years, and she uses algebra daily to understand supplement ratios and crop management in her role as Farm Manager. Math is everywhere, and building confidence in it matters.
Savannah gained an appreciation for nature's lessons by growing up in rural Maine and exploring the outdoors through hiking, camping and swimming. Currently the Youth Education Manager at a community garden, she leads field trips, summer camps, and afterschool programs. She has learned that many of her students learn best through hands-on and visual explanations. Savannah enjoys helping them to take a step back and see the problem in a new way. When she's not working, Savannah loves growing veggies in her garden, trialing a new recipe in the kitchen, and running in the desert with her dogs, Asparagus and Vern.
